I was attracted to Bisha Fish Market by those good reviews. Oh yes, the seafood purchasing experience was good as there were many stalls selling live and fresh seafood at reasonable prices. However the restaurant cooking the seafood for my wife and I was not that good. All seafood got overcooked. The worst was the cooking of squid. We ordered the squid to be deep fried and the squid turned up to be overcooked with tough texture. The overall eating experience was quite disappointing.

From the toll booth on Freeway 1 going to Keelung, it would take less than 30 minutes by car to arrive Bisha harbor/seafood market. I have been here many times. Most of the time, we would buy fresh seafood and have them cooked in one of the 12 restaurants that are 5 meter across the market. Although sometimes we would also buy already cooked shrimp, tiny crabs, or fried fish. Sometimes we would also buy lots of fish to bring home since they are cheaper than those in Taipei. By the way, there was one time that we went to Fulong Beach and from there we drove to Bisha along the road beside the ocean to have dinner. The place is also not far to Chiufen(Jiufen), maybe 30 minutes by car.

How to get there:Accessible by taking bus 1811 and 1812 from Taipei West Bus Station Terminal A. You can also take bus 1811 and 1812 from Keelung.Bisha Harbor:We had heard that we can enjoy seafood at affordable prices at Bisha Harbor, thus I made plans to visit Bisha Harbor for our trip. We reached Bisha Harbor around 4pm which is a bit early for dinner. There are not many people looking for food and vendors are vying for your attention and trying to get you to eat at their restaurants. The price seems to be quite standardized among the few restaurants along the stretch of road. After checking the rates with the different restaurants, we decided on one and ordered some dishes. We had particularly requested the restaurant to provide small portions as there are only 2 of us. The food were not bad and the crayfishes we ordered were pretty delicious. After the dinner, we were shocked by the bill! The price seemed exorbitant for just the two of us and especially when we had heard that Bisha Harbor offers reasonably-priced seafood from our friends who went Bisha Harbor before. The restaurant couldn't provide a breakdown of the prices and told us that they were unable to provide receipts as they needed the receipts for their closing. We weren't convince, but paid up as we didn't want to make a fuss.Fellow travelers, remember to double check on the estimated bill total before entering the restaurant if you are planning on eating at Bisha Harbor. You can try:There is a stall selling seafood ice-cream near the end of the road. There are different flavors such as squid and etc. We did not try as we were pretty full after the seafood dinner. If you still have space in your stomach, you can try their unique ice-cream. The only other place that we saw selling seafood ice-cream was in Hokkaido.

Bisha Harbour was part of our day trip from Jiu Feng and Jinguashi. After visiting JiuFeng, we took a Keeluing Bus and alight at the Bus Terminal/Train Terminal (last stop). We took a cab to Bisha Habour Port and it cost less than S$10. Upon arriving there, we saw a big ship on display and it looks like their iconic symbol of the attraction but surprisingly there isnt any tourist other than us. Those who patronise the place were mainly locals...so you know where the freshest food are. We saw live seafood stalls after stalls and we choose one of the stall with the widest selection of seafood. Price is displayed and you could also bargain further after buying a variety of seafood. Some of the seafood is generally cheaper by 30 to 50 % as compared to Singapore. After that, they would bring you to a restaurant nearby to have it cooked your way by paying a small fee. Each fee charges is around $4 to $8. But dont expect too much as its Taiwan. When we finish our meals, we took a bus outside the Bisha Harbour Port and travel to the last Terminal (last stop) I think is onlt NT$25 and from there we took a train back to Taipei. All the bus outside the Bisha Port can reach the Terminal but do ask the drive before boarding.A word of caution : when they quote you the price, make sure they quote you based on chinese called "Jing". 1 "jung" is equivalent to 600g. If its "liang", which all the chinese medical herb shop would usually use it to weigh herbs, you can imagine what would be the final price ! Just be careful. So make sure you ask.
